Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art Maduro cigar was crafted to honor a man just as iconic and world-changing. However, there’s more to these smokes than just the name of a famous author. First, as you may have noticed, is that every cigar in the lineup is a perfecto, that uncommon and most-difficult of vitolas rolled by only the best torcedors in the business. Moreover, then there’s the tobacco. Oh boy, the Fuente’s luscious, mouth-watering, incomparable longleaf tobacco grown on their farms in the Dominican Republic. The Hemingway Maduro is made even more spectacular by stuffing a vast quantity of these homegrown and well-aged leaves into a shiny near-black Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper to compose a medium bodied triumph.

The Fuente family is renowned for the quality of their tobaccos as well as their talents in blending the different varieties and primings, so if there is anything disparaging that could be said about the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art Maduro it is that we do not want to smoke anything else! Keep an eye on the 4.875” X 60 perfecto’s sharply tapered foot to make sure the burn line stays even once it reaches the central part of the barrel, but otherwise, there’s little to worry about once you have settled in. The first waves of thick smoke greet the palate full of creamy cedar, dark cocoa, and cherry stem, almost like an epic candy bar. The middle adds in some savory tastes: coffee, spice, and leather. Approaching the finale, expect loamy earth mixed with plum, black pepper, and cream.
